The Ocean Avenue Association is proud to host Hold Me Close, a vibrant and heartfelt art show by Bay Area illustrators Carolyn Chu and Lys Yang. This thoughtfully curated exhibition explores the many ways we find connection in our lives—whether through quiet, intimate moments or the energy of bright, crowded spaces.
Opening night will take place on Friday, July 12 from 4–7 PM at the Ocean Avenue Association office (1720 Ocean Ave) and will include light refreshments, original artwork for sale, and a curated selection of local vendors offering ceramics, baked goods, and handmade goods.
Both artists bring a deeply personal lens to their work. Carolyn Chu’s illustrations blend magical surrealism with reflections on contemporary life, while Lys Yang’s pieces offer saturated glimpses into memory, community, and care. Their shared values and visual storytelling invite audiences to reflect on the beauty of togetherness—even when connection feels fleeting.
The exhibit will remain on view through August 5 and is open to the public during OAA’s business hours. Though RSVPs are not required, attendees are encouraged to sign up in advance to help us better plan for this joyful gathering.
This event is part of OAA’s ongoing efforts to uplift local talent and bring accessible, meaningful art experiences to the Ocean Avenue community.
