Ocean Avenue Safety Meeting w/ Supervisor Melgar (D7), Officer Drewkai Butler (SFPD | Taraval Station), & Al Casciato (retired SFPD Captain)

Summary obtained from "Ingleside And Public Safety: Leaders Talk Security Measures"

By Anne Marie Kristoff | Ingleside Light

On the morning of September 19, neighbors and merchants gathered at the Ocean Avenue Association office to discuss public safety. District 7 Supervisor Myrna Melgar, Officer Drewkai Butler, and retired SFPD Officer Al Casciato led the conversation, which focused on keeping our community safe despite recent incidents.

While crime rates are declining, Officer Butler reassured us that the police are doing their best to respond to issues as quickly as possible. Supervisor Melgar shared plans to install license plate-reading cameras along Ocean Avenue, which could help prevent future crimes.

The idea of expanding the OAA's ambassador program to include safety patrols was also discussed, which could further improve security in the neighborhood.

At the heart of the meeting was a reminder that community involvement is key to keeping our streets safe. The Ocean Avenue Association is starting a public safety committee to ensure we all have a voice in this effort.

Below is a replay of the discussion. Read the full article by Ingleside Light here.
