Ocean Avenue was excitedly buzzing on Saturday, March 22, as the first-ever Ocean Ave Boba Festival brought boba lovers together for an afternoon of delicious drinks, fun activities, and community connection.

With tickets completely sold out, the festival welcomed attendees ready to explore some of the best boba spots in the Ingleside neighborhood. From black sesame milk tea to floral-infused oolong, festival-goers enjoyed a variety of flavors while connecting with local businesses that make Ocean Avenue special.

Boba, Community, and Creative Outfits

One of the most memorable parts of the event was the incredible boba-themed outfits! From bubble tea accessories to full-on boba cup costumes, attendees dressed in style. The festival brought neighbors, friends, and families together, filling the district with positive and fun energy all afternoon.

Participants checked in at 1720 Ocean Avenue, where they received a festival map and tickets to redeem specialty drinks at five participating locations:

  • Dots Boba (1330 Ocean Ave) – A hidden gem known for black sesame boba drinks, a rare and unique specialty in the Bay Area.

  • Sweet Cupz (1490 Ocean Ave) – A fun storefront featuring claw machines, prizes, and a wide range of refreshing boba flavors.

  • PurTea (1422 Ocean Ave) – A cozy café with floral decor, plushies, and soothing lofi music, offering their legendary Lady Green Thai Tea.

  • Cherry Blossom Bakery – A neighborhood favorite that serves fresh-baked treats and adds a sweet touch to the festival lineup.

  • The Fate Tea House (1181 Ocean Ave) – The final stop of the festival, where attendees gathered for Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea and cupcakes to wrap up the day.

A Special Thanks to Our Community Partners

A huge thank you to the local businesses that participated and helped make this event successful. We also want to recognize:

  • SFPD Taraval Station and beat Officer Drewkai Butler for ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

  • Gil Guillermo's heartwarming acoustic set at PurTea added the perfect ambiance to the festival's cozy atmosphere.

Looking Ahead: What's Next for the Boba Festival?

The overwhelmingly positive reception showed us one thing—we must do this again! This festival showcased the amazing businesses along Ocean Avenue and strengthened the sense of community.

We're already exploring ways to make the next event even bigger and better with expanded activities, more boba spots, and a smoother experience for attendees and businesses.

If you missed out this time, don't worry—there will be more opportunities to sip, explore, and celebrate boba culture here on Ocean Avenue.

Thank you to everyone who made this event so special. We'll see you at the next one!
